Kuala Lumpur International Marathon 2008

This report is a bit late, coz I have been getting lazier to blog nowadays. A week after the challenging 48km Prata Run, I went back to KL to run the half marathon. I was in good form when running the Prata Run, and did not suffer any injuries after that. I went back to KL with a mindset; to avenge my poor run at the same event a year ago.

I drove to the race site alone coz rest of the gang were doing only 10km. I was a lot earlier this time and just wander around chatting with Raymond Hee and Kelvin pm2. The race flagged off at 0600 hours and as usual people were annoyingly pushing towards the narrow starting point. We did the extra first small repeating loop in the beginning and later we were running towards the highway. The first distance marker was so inaccurate coz there were using the exact last year's location without using their brains that earlier on we have done an extra 1.5km loop this year.

I managed to catch up with Raymond Hee during the 8th km. This Ironman has improved so much over the year and I hardly can catch up with him. After pacing each other for about 2km, he suddenly stopped and changed his pace to walk. I kinda surprised and later found out that he was dehydrated due to such a distant water station. Sorry bro, I should have offered my energy drink if I have realized that earlier.

I was doing quite well this time around. I did not feel tired at all and was running at my 10km race pace throughout the race. With my pace at that time, I reckon I will do sub 1:50. However, I managed to do only 1 hr 52 min 22 sec. The distance is probably slightly more than 21km. However, I am still happy coz I think I actually improved a lot. 2 weeks after this race, I actually did a 57km Dusty Run. The experience were horrible..
